Welcome to The Ro Show, my space to share thoughts and musings on all sorts of subjects from food and travel to lifestyle and interiors, and occasionally parenting because while that’s a huge part of my life that wasn’t the intention for this blog. This is The Ro Show. It’s about finding the identity that went missing for a while.
I am a marketer by trade. That’s my day job. I love all things communication and have done for as long as I can remember. Language excites me and I’m a self-confessed word-nerd. I’m for the Oxford comma and against txt spk, in almost all circumstances. In fact, I can’t think of time when I would choose to drop a few letters and risk my message getting lost.
I’ve worked for some strong British brands, household names, as Marketing Manager, tasked with communicating their brand messages and hitting the right tone with their customers, and I do enjoy it. I do love to write though and I’ve written blogs, web content, product copy and more for a huge range of customers on a freelance basis as well. It keeps me on my toes. It was no surprise to me how much I wanted to do more of that, and that’s where the seed of The Ro Show started.
Some might call it a mid-life crisis (and my husband certainly does!) though for me it feels much less climactic; I don’t believe I’ve changed, just reassessed the balance and committed to making more time for me. It’s about making time for everything that’s important. Balance.
When I’m not writing, you’ll often find me outside on an adventure with my family, or trying to make memories some other way. I took up running last year (I’m a big advocate of parkrun) and I’m training for my first half marathon. I’m a reluctant cook but more enthusiastic baker, but I’m by no means Bake-Off ready!
The Ro Show is positive. It’s inclusive. I hope you’ll join me in seeing the good in whatever today throws your way, and if you don’t fancy it, that’s OK too because it’s not about the likes or follows – although everyone likes that reassurance from time to time – it’s about reminding me to look after myself and appreciate every day. There’s a reason they tell on you planes to sort your own oxygen mask before helping others, after all!
